She Wears Red Feathers 2 Years ago Karma: 0
Hi From Goa, India. A great uke and guitar player + songwriter, Gary Rudd, is staying not far from me and has kindly written the chords to this song for me. It's an ol;d favourite and was a big hit in the late 1950's. I'll attach it as a word document, but in case that doesn't work I'll paste it below and hope this come out making sense:

Also to hear on utube go to:

She Wears Red Feathers

C G
She wears red feathers and a hooly-hooly skirt,
C
she wears red feathers and a hooly-hooly skirt.
F C
She lives on just cokey-nuts and fish from the sea,
Am G C
a rose in her hair, a gleam in her eyes, and love in her heart for me.

+ Am - G - C

C G
1. I work in a London bank, respectable position,
C D G
from nine to three they serve you tea, but ruin your disposition.
F C Am
Each night of music calls, rather lost I seem,
C G C
and once a pearl of a native girl came smilin' right at me.

+ CHORUS + Am - G - C
C G
2. Goodbye to the London bank, I started in a-sailin',
C D G
the fourteenth day from Mandalay I spied her from the railin'.
F C Am
She knew I was on my way, waited, and was true,
C G C
she said, "You son of an Englishman, I've dreamed each night of you".

+ CHORUS + Am - G - C

C G
3. I went to her Ma and Pa and said I loved her only,
C D G
and they both said we could be wed, oh, what a ceremony.
F C Am
An elephant brought her in, placed her by my side,
C G C
while six baboons got out bassoons and played "Here Comes the Bride"

+ CHORUS + Am - G - C

C G
4. I'm back here in London town and, though it may sound silly,
C D G
she's here with me and you should see us walk down Picadilly.
F C Am
The boys at the London bank kinda hold their breath,
C G C
she sits with me and sips her tea which tickles them to death.

C G
She wears red feathers and a hooly-hooly skirt,
C
she wears red feathers and a hooly-hooly skirt.
F C
She lives on just cokey-nuts and fish from the sea,
Am
a rose in her hair, a gleam in her eyes,
Am G C
and love (and love) in her heart (in her heart) for me !

(Guy Mitchell)

Best wishes,
Paul
